Year 5
“Broadening Horizons and Leadership”
Year 5 challenges children to think big and make connections across subjects. They explore poetry, fiction and non-fiction texts that tackle themes of war, migration and exploration, and write in a variety of styles from myths to persuasive pitches. Science spans materials, forces, space and life cycles, encouraging hands-on enquiry and deeper conceptual understanding. History covers the Vikings, Tudors and Ancient Greece, while geography looks at life in the Alps, the importance of oceans and desert environments. This is a year for responsibility and leadership — through performance, debate, design and creative projects — preparing pupils to become confident role models.
